I was born, raised, and still reside in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. As a little girl I loved being in my grandfathers garage. I loved looking around at all his tools, I loved seeing his little wooden creations, but my favourite thing was the smell. Every now and then I thought to myself that I would like to do the same, and as I got older I wondered if I could make a career out of making hand held wooden things for people like cutting boards or jewelry boxes. I had convinced myself that I couldn’t, so I devoted my career to a life of cabinetmaking, and did so for 16 years before I took the plunge and tried to start up my own wood shop making things that I held passion for. Which leads us to today!
I have a particular fondness for the chevron pattern. My favourite part about making boards is taking all the pieces of wood that I intend to use for a board and laying them out on the bench. Then I arrange, and rearrange as many times as it takes before I step back and say “ahh, that’s it”. The creative process is my favourite aspect of the job. I love being able to express myself through building these beautiful boards, and the look of happiness on my clients face truly warms my heart.
My main focus is boards! Cutting boards, bar boards, and charcuterie boards. With that in mind, I also enjoy making boxes as well! Boxes for recipes, jewelry, and other keep sakes.
I have a variety of other interests, most of which are enjoyed in the summer. First and foremost I love to garden. I’ve dug up and turned just about every square inch of space on my property into a grow-able patch of dirt, and vegetables are my main focus. If I’m not in my garden it’s likely because I’m at the lake fishing. Or out camping in a tent. Or simply sitting around a fire enjoying good conversation with friends. In the winter I reach peak introvert status and will stay home almost at all costs. I do enjoy ice fishing, but let’s be honest, that’s more for the snacks and beer! Cuddled up in winter I can either be found reading, knitting, playing video games, or baking tasty treats.
I think that’s enough tid bits about myself to let you know that I’m just a regular hard working gal with simple pleasures and a love for life. Thanks for taking a look at my website and I hope you like what you see! Don’t be too shy to reach out if you have any questions.
